Current River. Take a guided horseback ride or hike on many miles of beautiful Ozark trails,
or come discover the history of a Civil War site or visit an 1880's pioneer's homestead.
Ripley County is a nature lover's paradise. From the never-ending variety of wildflowers in the summer to the flaming revue of fall foliage and the spring pageant of blooming dogwoods. Our forests attract deer and turkey hunters from all over the country. Our streams, rivers and lakes offer great fishing.
Home of the first federal highway west of the Mississippi River and on a part of the famous Trail of Tears, Ripley County is a historian's delight. Take a walk through our downtown on our Historic Doniphan Walking Tour. You'll want to stop in our Current River Heritage Museum and Gift Shop which houses displays of river life, lumber and timbering industries, as well as Ripley County's pioneer days. The Pioneer Homestead, located a block from the museum takes visitors back to the 1800's as they tour a restored log cabin, log barn and blacksmith shop.
There is something for everyone in Ripley County. We hope you will come visit us soon.
