The 2nd Annual OZARK REGIONAL TIMBERFEST

September 20, 21 and 22, 2007 at the Ripley County Fairgrounds-Doniphan, MO

The 2007 Event Featured:

The 2007 STIHL IRONJACK Timber Team outfitted by Cabela's. The tour features athletes as seen on the Outdoor Living Network and ESPN. These world class forest sports athletes compete in a decathlon of timber events designed to challenge even the heartiest lumberjacks. From the precision of control required for the axe throw, to the power and technique needed for the springboard chop, the IRONJACK decathlon is like no other. Events include single buck sawing, obstacle pole, logrolling, hot saw and the out of control speed climbing of a 50-foot tree that ends in a free fall. The IRONJACKS will perform on Thursday, Sept. 20, Friday, Sept. 21, and Saturday, Sept. 22.

The LOGGERS RELAY on Friday night will pit local and regional 5 or 6 person teams against each other as they compete in log rolling, chopping, speed cut and cross cut. Get your team formed now!

The WORLD CLASS DRAFT HORSE PULL on Saturday night will feature some of the biggest and most beautiful draft horses you've ever seen!

Emphasis will be placed on the timber history, featuring antique/vintage logging and sawmill equipment and displays, along with an early 1900's logging camp that will showcase period logging techniques. There will be educational activities and presentations all day Thursday and Friday for students and adults alike. Fine crafters and food vendors have been invited to attend and are sure to satisfy your crafty side and hunger! The Ripley County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to once again partner with the US Forest Service, Missouri Dept. of Conservation, National Park Service, Missouri Forest Products Assoc., Missouri and National Farmer's Union and the Eastern Ozarks Forestry Council, along with many great sponsors and individuals to bring you an historical, educational and entertaining point of view of the impact of the timber industry in our communities. Continental Breakfast
Educational Session - "Carbon Credit Trading" (Free to the public)
9am Craft Show and Exhibits open
10am - 3pm School Field Trips

12:00 Ironjacks perform
5pm Masonic Lodge serving dinner - "Lumberjack Stew"
6pm Ironjacks perform
7pm Buzzard Run on stage

Friday - September 21

8am - Gates Open
9am Craft Show and Exhibits open all day
9am - 3pm School Field Trips

3pm - 7pm Oxly Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry
with "Friends-A-Pickin' " on stage

Saturday - September 22

8am - Gates Open
Craft Show and Exhibits open all day
8:30am - 11am Speed and Cross-cut saw competition followed immediately by the Ironjacks
11am MFPA - Missouri Forest Products Association Game of Logging with a break at 1pm
1pm Ironjacks peform
1:30pm Pony Pull competition begins
Countryfire Cloggers of Ellsinore to perform at 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m.
4:30pm Ironjacks perform
5:00 - 6:30 Dinner by Project Graduation 2007
5:00pm - 7:00pm - Mercy River Boys on Stage in the Whitwell Building
6:30pm Ironjacks final performance
7:15pm Chainsaw Carving Auction - Auctioneer - Harold Murray

In addition to the main events listed there will be many wonderful events for the family to enjoy such as the chainsaw wood carving and the Countryfire Cloggers that will be preforming throughout the event.
